ILA Job Descriptions

An ILA ESL Teacher:

 

  • Is qualified and has native level English (certified or mother-tongue)

 

  • provides fun & engaging lessons to students from young learners to adults, covering all levels

 

  • is experienced with Cambridge and/or Trinity examinations and prepares students for various international certifications including IGCSE for schools

 

  • teaches ILA structured courses for kids to adults that focus heavily on speaking & listening skills

 

  • is mainly based in Rome and teaches one to one and group lessons as well as using Skype for international and/or remote students

An ILA Workshop Leader:

 

  • is a qualified ESL teacher and has native level English (certified or mother-tongue)

 

  • runs ILA’s CLIL WORKSHOPS to school-age students across Rome

 

  • is enthusiastic and full of energy with interests in arts & crafts, singing & dancing and drama

 

  • will receive training for specific workshops

An ILA Camp Director:

 

  • is the head of the camp and responsible for the efficient running of the programme, all campers, all staff and all ILA property

 

  • has native level English (certified or mother-tongue)

 

  • speaks at least advanced level Italian

 

  • is in possession of a first aid certificate

 

  • is well organized and able to work under pressure

 

  • is in charge of the day to day running of the camp

 

  • is responsible for the welfare of every camper and every staff member

 

  • co-ordinates camp helpers

 

  • is in charge of discipline, camp finances and parent/ILA relations

 

  • liaises with ILA head office, HOA and DOS

 

  • liaises with hotel, local service providers and local transport companies

 

  • is in charge of camp set up and pack up

 

  • ensures proper health and safety measures are in place and being practiced

 

  • is in charge of all night duties

 

  • is responsible, well organized, friendly and diplomatic

An ILA Assistant Camp Director:

 

  • has native level English (certified or mother-tongue)

 

  • is personal assistant to the CD

 

  • in the event of illness or otherwise can temporarily take on the CD’s duties

 

  • assists with night duties

 

  • is responsible, well organized, friendly and diplomatic

An ILA Camp Director of Studies:

 

  • has native level English (certified or mother-tongue)

 

  • runs the academic side of camp

 

  • ensures all teachers are supported and providing satisfactory lessons & workshops

 

  • assists with staff training, workshops, social activities and excursions

 

  • co-ordinates all teaching staff and teaching rosters

 

  • co-ordinates workshops

 

  • is in charge of the all didactic materials

 

  • runs camp examinations

 

  • assists with camp set up and pack up

 

  • teaches when needed to cover absences due to illness etc.

 

  • is responsible, organized, diplomatic and personable

An ILA Camp Head of Activities:

 

  • has native level English (certified or mother-tongue)

 

  • runs the activity and sports camp programme

 

  • ensures all activity leaders are supported and providing satisfactory activities

 

  • assists with staff training, social activities and excursions

 

  • co-ordinates evening activities

 

  • is in charge of the all activity related materials

 

  • assists with camp set up and pack up

 

  • runs activities when needed to cover absences due to illness etc

 

  • co-ordinates transport to and from activities

 

  • liaises with Italian sports leaders when required

 

  • assists the CD and CDA with bed time and break supervision

 

  • is responsible, organized, diplomatic and personable

An ILA Camp Teacher:

 

  • is qualified and has native level English (certified or mother-tongue)

 

  • provides fun & engaging lessons for campers (covering a range of levels)

 

  • runs daily workshops as directed by the camp DOS

 

  • participates in social activities and excursions

 

  • runs academic activities on arrival and departure days

 

  • is enthusiastic, creative and full of energy with interests in any of the following areas; arts & crafts, singing, dancing, science & nature, sports, music, film, drama and photography

 

  • is outgoing and friendly

An ILA Camp Activities Leader:

 

  • has native level English (certified or mother-tongue)

 

  • provides fun & engaging activities for campers

 

  • helps run all social activities and excursions

 

  • runs fun activities on arrival and departure days

 

  • is enthusiastic, creative and full of energy with interests in any of the following areas; arts & crafts, singing, dancing, science & nature, sports, music, film, drama and photography, puppetry, magic, circus skills

An ILA Camp Helper:

 

  • comes to the camp to take part in activities, gain work experience and practice their English with native speakers

 

  • has a good to excellent level of English

 

  • assists during activities, breaks, and meal times

 

  • assists with wake up and lights out

 

  • reports to the CD and assists the CD whenever required

 

  • always sets a good example

An ILA Tour Director:

 

  • is the head of the tour and responsible for the efficient running of the programme, all students, all staff and all ILA property

 

  • has native level English (certified or mother-tongue)

 

  • speaks advanced level Italian

 

  • is in possession of a first aid certificate

 

  • is well organized and able to work under pressure

 

  • is in charge of the day to day running of the tour

 

  • is responsible for the welfare of every student and every staff member

  • participates in all tour excursions and visits by providing the academic component

 

  • is responsible for a set group of students and their evaluation at the end of the tour

 

  • is enthusiastic, creative and full of energy with interests in any of the following areas; arts & crafts, singing, dancing, science & nature, sports, music, film, drama and photography

An ILA Tour Leader:

 

  • is a local resident

 

  • has native level English (certified or mother-tongue)

 

  • leads all excursions, visits and tours, liaising with the local management and staff

 

  • is responsible for the safe return of all students at the end of each tour

 

  • is responsible for the welfare of all students and staff whilst on tour

 

  • is in possession of a first aid certificate

 

  • is enthusiastic, friendly and well organized

Camp & Tour Combination Roles:

 

  • These roles are available on request to staff interested in combining two roles (for example Camp teacher/Activity leader)
